The original impetus behind buying a van and living in it full time was so I could escape the black abyss of my phone.

I got this idea for going full-time off grid while camping in the Canyonlands in Utah in the spring of 2021. I had just bought a rooftop tent, and was traveling with an old friend. It was the first camping trip of my adult life.

My friend and I had planned to only spend one night in the Canyonlands, but the next morning I couldn’t stomach the idea of returning to Moab. Something about it felt too jarring. Not the noise or the people. Something else.
